I was very glad, however, to have my power, without injustice, to prevent the Colonial Chaplain being put to any great inconvenience by offering him before the day of sale the Government Quarters in the Albany Buildings, lately occupied as a residence by Mr. Forth the Colonial Treasurer, at the very reasonable rent of £75 a year; but the Colonial Chaplain informed me that he did not require the quarters in question, as he had succeeded in obtaining a residence.
